The Hard Truth

Almost every week we are approached by decent, well meaning people who want to get merchandise printed to raise money for the cause they hold dear. They may even be the reason that a charity or cause exists, often after a family tragedy.

Traditionally those decent, well meaning people would be taken advantage of by printers who, quite frankly know better, but are driven by profit.

So the old school printing company will talk about the set-up fee that needs to be charged and the minimum order that needs to be placed and before you know it the decent, well meaning person has a bill for £250 for a mix of mugs and coasters etc. And those products sit there, unsold.

But when I am approached by those same decent, well meaning people I tell them not to order any merchandise. Not to spend a penny.

My advice is quite simple, let us list merchandise on our store and see what happens. I give them the costs for us to produce their merchandise and they get to sell it for whatever they want, online, for free, no need to spend a penny.

And what normally happens, and this has been proven accurate for 2 organisations in the past week, no sales are made!

Friends and family members will always tell you that they will of course buy a mug or a t-shirt but when it comes down to it not many do. They want to support the decent person but because the hard truth is often not a conversation people want to be part of they simply tell a little white lie.

But at Club Merchandise we feel we NEED to be honest and we DONT NEED to take people's money if there are no sales out there.

And guess what, even if one person buys something and that is all that happens, we will fulfill that one order for that decent person.

It wont be an 'earner' for us but it's the right and decent thing to do.
